Hard to say how each person thinks of it. Besides, in North America, having a more beautiful, sought-after single wife can also be used as a sort of property to show off anyway...it just happens to be a qualitative rather than quantitative endeavour. It's also at least imaginable that a man can love more than one woman correctly. (Or vice versa) Whether it ~really~ ends up being that way, however, is a different story...
